Driver's Stay Alert

The road that Kyle was rear ended last night. Kyle was driving the tractor with the wheat drill behind, had just pulled out of a driveway up on the right side of the road and was turning left into a drive was about where I was taking the picture at. The car was about a mile down the road when he pulled out. The car had to be traveling at a high rate of speed. the driver said he look up and did not see any light, then looked down and back up and that is when he saw the flashing lights. The car that was behind that car said he saw the flashing lights 2 miles away. DH and I both think the driver as either texting, or dialing his cell phone.
This is our Wheat drill after the Acciedent. What part of bright flashing lights do you not see. The car hit the right back tire of the drill. The driver was very lucky that he was not injuried and neither was my son. No tickets were issued to the other driver. Which I can't believe. All the officer said was that, Farm machinery have the right of way either day or night it does not matter and that everything was working properly on our equipment.

The remains of the tire. DH and Kyle was able to get everything going this morning, they finished drilling wheat and are back to cutting beans, before the rain hits tomorrow. I wish it would hold off for a few weeks.

I love this picture of Tyler it is such a natural picture of him.

FFA Tractor Show

This is friend of mines little boy, Hunter wanted to drive all the tractors that were at the show. He did get to get the chance to be in the peddle tractor pull and won second. He had a great time.
This is the first Fordson tractor that I ever remember seeing. The man did a great job restoring it.

This is a few of the tractors that came. I had to leave before they all got there. According to my son, Tyler everyone seemed to have a good time. They had tractor games. a cake walk, inflatables for the kids and a peddle tractor pull. They are already making plans for next year. This was the first year for the show.
This was a fund raiser for there trip to the National FFA convention that is this week. As a matter of fact they left this morning. The Goreville FFA Chapter is to get an award. I will be watching RFDTV this week.

Friday night out with Mom

Last night my mother and I went to see the "Church Basement Ladies" Featuring William Christopher AKA "Father Mulcahy" from M*A*S*H. It was the BEST play I have ever been to. It is based in 1964 about 4 church ladies and the things that go on while cooking in the church basement. If you ever get a chance to see this production by all means go. Sorry I could not take pictures, they were not allowed.

Farming, and Rain

Hannah's first game in College against Rend Lake College. Her team lost.
Farming started to get into full swing here last week and now has come to a halt because of rain and more rain to come. We did manage to get the FFA beans cut. This is the first year they have had a crop. The field did well I am sure the FFA will be please. They are having an antique tractor show coming up in the 17th. Tyler is very active in the FFA, so this has been some new things for them to do for fund raisers.
As many of you know Rick and I have been trying to buy 2 buildings in Goreville. As you remember this has been going on since April. We were to have signed the papers on Sept 30. Well that did not happen. I had to get an attorney to find out what the hold up is and to try and get this done. In the mean time I am in the process of trying to find somewhere to have an auction. The building we are storing the items in is over fulling.
I will keep you posted. Have a good week. Lisa
